Homemade pizza is so much better than frozen pizza any day, plus it makes your whole kitchen smell amazing while it's baking.
If you happen to find fresh mozzarella on sale then it's definitely a good reason to make some homemade pizza. The No Knead Olive Oil Dough that I mentioned earlier is great for pizzas. I like to make a classic Margherita with a bit of either pepperoni or pancetta on top. Margherita with a twist!
Make it a pizza party and get everyone involved!
What you will need:
Flat surface to roll out dough
rolling pin (I use this one!)
some flour for sprinkling on surface
cornmeal for sprinkling on pan
tomato sauce or marinara
toppings: fresh mozzarella, basil, veggies, seasonings, and whatever you fancy!
pizza pan (you can also use a pizza stone, but I prefer to use a pizza pan when using an oven)
Preheat oven to 475 degrees.
Grab a grapefruit size of dough and form into a ball onto a well-floured surface.
Roll out the ball into a nice round shape.
Sprinkle cornmeal onto pizza pan.
Relocate dough to pizza pan and add pizza sauce followed by toppings of your choice.
Bake at 475 degrees for 12 minutes.
Enjoy the smell filling up in your kitchen.
Check doneness - when crust is golden brown.
Remove from oven.
Let the pizza cool slightly and then slice up.
Kitchen shears come in handy here.
I learned that trick from Double Zero Napoletana in Atlanta, GA. So smart!
Serve with a salad, a glass of adult grape juice or enjoy by itself!
Fun for everyone!
