It is so important to stay hydrated during this time of the year. I have really upped my water intake and when it's 80+ degrees outside drinking plain ole water just doesn't cut it for me.
A couple of weeks ago I went to the Greene Street Market and left with the best strawberries I have had in a looooong time. The nice people at Champion Farms said that their strawberry season is almost over so I was thankful that I was able to find them again last week at the Latham Farmer's Market.
I decided to put a couple of halved strawberries in my water and wow the strawberries infuse into the water giving a slight refreshing and crisp flavor.
This is super simple to make.
A couple of cleansed strawberries (fresh, local, in season ones if you can find them)
Filtered Water (we love our Berkey Water Filter)
- Slice up strawberries to the size of your liking ( I halved mine )
- Add strawberries to your favorite drinking container ( I love my aladdin insulated mason jar with a smoothie-sized straw and it doesn't sweat)
- Fill up container with water
- Chill for 10 minutes or enjoy immediately!
You could also add to a pitcher and keep in your fridge for chilled fill-ups during the day.
I'm prefer to drink my water lukewarm though.
This would also work with other fruits or herbs of your liking. Of course you could buy some already flavored waters at the grocery store but making your own infused concoctions is more fun and fresh!
I also love adding meyer lemons to my water, so much that I bought my own meyer lemon tree this year.
Don't forget to stay hydrated!
