How to Add and Edit Captions on your YouTube Videos

In this post, I'm going to show you how to easily add captions to your YouTube videos.

Confession: the first time I uploaded a YouTube video to my channel, I didn't really know that you could edit your captions YouTube. YouTube auto-generates your captions and this is really embarrassing... but one day I was watching one of my own videos and I didn't have the sound on but I had the captions on.

I have one video that has over 10,000 views and I started watching it and I was like oh my gosh… where I was saying, “hey there it's Lindsey.” It had auto-corrected and it said, “Hey there, I'm stinky!!” and I was like what? are you kidding me? this is like my highest performing video on YouTube and it says, I'm stinky?!?!? 😳oh my gosh… it was horrible… it's horrible.

I quickly learned how to edit my captions and here’s how you can too!

How to Use Loom Video Recorder for Your Online Business: My Review

Have you heard of Loom Video Recorder?

Loom video recorder is a web tool that allows you to record your screen and create quick videos.

You can start your FREE account by clicking right here.

I love to use Loom for:

  • quick video replies via email

  • quick video tutorials for clients, students or Facebook group members

  • how to tutorials to post on YouTube or inside online courses

and more!

One that that I really like about loom is the fact that you can record your screen and be inside a little bubble while you're you're doing a tutorial which is really helpful for just being able to see the person instead of just watching the computer screen. If you don't like that and if you don't want to be or have your face down in that bubble you can just turn that off and you don't even have to be there.

Another thing that I like about loom is the fact that when you do record your videos all of them will be saved to your video library and what's nice is that you can download the videos, you can link the videos  and if you don't like them you can just trash them. It's super convenient that anytime you use loom it will put your videos to the folder. I love that it doesn't automatically download them to your computer or disappear or something like that and this feature just comes in handy!

I usually download my videos if the video is going to go on a course or if it's going on YouTube If I need to edit it I'll even just quickly download it and work on it but if it's just something quick and dirty that I needed so send to a client or something like that I will grab the link and then I just shoot them a link and then that way they can just go ahead and get started.

How to Create a Video Intro or Video Bumper for Your Videos

When I first started doing videos, I learned all kinds of new terms like lower third, bokeh and video bumper.

The bumper was the first one that I tackled and I’m thankful that I did. Think of a video bumper as being similar to a bumper on your car, it protects your car on both the front and the back. A video bumper does the same thing, it frames your video.

Does that make sense?

It’s also known as an intro! Of course, you don’t have to have an intro/video bumper but it does help you and your videos look a little bit more put together!

If you want to go ahead and watch the video training you can do so below, if you'd like the step by step walkthrough continuing reading below the video.

How to Increase Engagement on All of Your Posts

Sometimes it is really hard to be true to who you are online.. I reaaaalllly used to struggle with this. I would find myself saying "but me and my online brand wouldn't say that..." or etc. but here's ONE thing that has really helped me. When I get overwhelmed or I'm not quite sure what to say in a post...

I think of ONE person.

I keep that one person in mind that I know needs to hear what I'm going to tell them. I write / speak to them and talk like I'm talking to a friend.

This makes things easier for me for a few reasons:⠀
